How to Make Vista Run Faster

Windows Vista might be the latest (and greatest) version of Windows but it's certainly not the fastest for some peopleIndeed, I've known people who have installed Vista to only have it running so slow that it literally took the computer 15 minutes to boot upAs Microsoft spent an estimated $10 billion on this product, it's a wonder that it doesn't run faster on its own..but thankfully, there's a simple way to do that for it.

The problem with most installations of Vista is that they are trying to run a cutting edge product on a machine which does not support itEver seen those "Designed for Vista" stickers on new computers? That's the indicator which shows if the hardware you have is fast enough to support the resource-intensive Vista..and most of the time, it's not.

However, if it is (like you've just bought a new laptop or something), there's something else which could affect Vista's speedIt's all to do with the central database which holds all your computer's settings and filesThis database is called the "registry" and it's crucial to the smooth operation of your computerIf your registry runs smoothly, then your PC will run fast..however, if your registry runs slowly then your computer will almost certainly run slowly too.

Think of the registry as a highway, where all your computer's files are the carsIf a registry file crashes, the flow of files is slowed right down and a tail-back occursThis is what slows your computer down and will only get worse as time passesLuckily, there's a fix that we can use to stop this problem for goodAll we need to do is go into the registry and clean out the problematic files so that the flow of files is fast again.

This only leaves one problem  - the registry is 10,000 files strongNo human (not even Bill Gates) could scan through it and find all the problematic files, so we need to rely on another tool to do it for usThis is where "registry cleaners" come inThese software tools scan through your computer's entire registry database and pick out the most problematic files & then fix them for youThey are totally automated and noticeably speed up your PC for you.
